A decisive second quarter led to a 56-27 victory for the Yorktown boys basketball team on Thursday night. The Tigers held the Warriors to one point in the second quarter and single digits in the final three quarters to secure the win.
Bryce Marsh guided the Wes-Del offense with 12 points and Sutter Foster followed up with nine points, including two 3-pointers.
Yorktown coach Greg Miller attributes his team’s success tonight to the defensive effort.
“Defensively we just got locked in after the first quarter,” Miller said. “We made some quick adjustments with awareness, and that made a big difference in our success.”
Going forward, Miller said the Tigers just need to stay consistent.
“We need to keep focusing on some of the things we’re doing already,” Miller said. “We have confidence in what we’re doing. A good defense leads to a good offense, and that’s a lot of what happened tonight.”
Yorktown moves to 14-5 on the season and will take on Shenandoah on Wednesday. Wes-Del will travel to Burris on Thursday.
