At this point, it seemed almost a formality to see Jayla Scaife’s name among the Indiana All-Stars.
The Central forward has been dominating, posting big numbers for three years now. But this is the first chance she had at one of the state all-star teams, and Tuesday news broke she’d made the cut for the junior squad.
The athletic Dayton commit is the area’s first since 2013, when Jill Morrison made the senior squad. To get there, Scaife averaged 21.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.8 steals and 2.5 blocks per game, while leading the Bearcats to a 19-6 record and a sectional title against a difficult schedule.
The Junior All-Stars will play two games against the IndyStar.com Indiana All-Star senior girls. Those games tentatively are set for June 8 and June 10 at sites to be announced later.
