•Athlete: Sage Coy
•School: Delta
•Year: Junior
•The performance: Coy finished third in the state in the 132-pound weight class. He was a sectional, regional and semistate champion, and also won Delaware County and Hoosier Heritage Conference titles. He finished the season with a record of 42-2.
•The future: Coy plans to pursue college wrestling, though he has yet to settle on a destination. He lists wrestling in the Big Ten as a goal.
•Quick notes: Coy attended Southside for his first two years of high school, though he never got a chance to participate in the postseason, missing weight as a freshman and getting injured as a sophomore. He works out with the Indiana Pride wrestling team in the offseason, when he also travels to various tournaments.
•Coy says: “It was a whole lot better than the first two (seasons), that’s for sure. But, never, never, satisfied. Third’s awesome and all, and people tell me ‘Congratulations,’ but it doesn’t faze me. I want on top of the podium, honestly.”
