SOFTBALL
Yorktown swept Alexandria in a doubleheader 7-6 and 8-2. Haley Hill led the Tigers going five for six on the day, hitting a double and a home run. Lexi Lumpkin and Morgan Masters each added a home run for the Tigers.
Delta swept a doubleheader against Northeastern, winning 15-7 and 20-7. Ericka Pursley hit a grand slam in the first game, and Angie Naaman pitched a complete game in the win. Logan Bland had a complete-game victory in the second game, with Micaya Richardson and Haille Workman each coming up with three hits.
Jay County broke even in a doubleheader against Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers, losing the first game 7-3 and winning the second game 9-0. Gabby Hart led the Patriots in the first matchup, hitting a three-run home run. Catherine Dunn took charge in the second game, getting three hits, a home run and three RBI.
New Castle split a doubleheader against Cambridge City, losing the first game 1-0 as Cambridge City threw a no-hitter and winning the second game 12-6. McKinley Duvall had three hits for the Trojans in the second game.
Blackford pulled away to a 20-4 win over Southern Wells on Friday. Shannon Walker guided the Bruins, going three for three at bat and posting four RBI.
BASEBALL
Burris went 1-2 and finished third at the Indy Kings tournament. After a win Friday, the Owls fell to Western Boone (4-1) and Indy Kings (8-1) on Saturday. Steven Byrum had three hits over the two games for the Owls. Matt Armstrong, Nathan Grzesiek and Garrison Rehfus combined to turn a triple play against Western Boone.
Cowan swept Hagerstown in a doubleheader, 16-1, 6-4. Isaiah Covington hit the lone home run for the Blackhawks. Luke Miller had a triple, a double and two stolen bases for the day.
Homestead defeated Wapahani in a doubleheader (2-1, 13-6). Zack Thompson led the Raiders, hitting a double and a home run on the day.
Daleville topped Union City in a doubleheader 4-1 and 9-3. Leading the way offensively for the Broncos in the first matchup was T.J. Price who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Brandon Vermillion led the Broncos in their second game, batting 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a double, and two runs scored.
Mississinewa defeated Jay County 9-2. Joshua Vaughn and Ethan Myers, guided the Patriots, with two hits each.
Wabash topped Blackford in a doubleheader, 10-3 and 5-4. Payten Reynolds had an RBI double in his only at bat in the second game for the Bruins.
Cambridge City defeated Monroe Central 9-8, 11-2 in a doubleheader. Cole Woolf led the Golden Bears in the first game, posting a double and a stolen base. Teammate Kaiser Phillips hit a double for the Golden Bears in the second game.
Blackford went 0-2 in a doubleheader on Friday, falling 11-7 to Bluffton and 13-3 to Monroe Central . Brody Glancy and Chase Mahan each had 2 hits for the Bruins in the first game. Brandon Barkdull led the Bruins against the Golden Bears, going 3-for-3 with a double.
Jay County defeated Elwood 8-6 on Friday. Tanner Reynolds led the Patriots with two hits and two RBIs.
New Castle and Yorktown split a doubleheader, with Yorktown winning 10-0 and New Castle winning 5-4. Cole Barr and Clay Dungan each had four hits on the day for the Tigers. Barr also had one RBI.
Delta split a doubleheader against Shelbyville on Friday, falling 17-5 in the first and game winning 10-4 in the second game. Cade Jones led the Eagles hitting a home run in each game. Tanner Lambert added two doubles during the first game. Tate Stone hit a triple in the second game of the night.
GIRLS TRACK
Central defeated Huntington North 66-56 on Friday. Jayla Scaife led the Bearcats, taking first in the 100 and 200.
