Central edged Richmond, 8-7. Joe Gallatin led the Bearcats with two hits, including a double.
Monroe Central pulled away to a 13-4 victory over Seton Catholic. Kaiser Phillips led the Golden Bears in going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Blue River upset Class 2A No. 1 Wapahani 3-1. Hayden Castor, Grant Thompson and Austin Martin each launched doubles for the Raiders.
Delta broke out the bats and knocked off Wes-Del 17-2. Tate Stone hit a trio of home runs in the victory.
SOFTBALL
Yorktown pulled out a 2-1 win over Mt. Vernon. Yorktown’s Kara Tucker and Morgan Masters each went 2-for-3, while Ashleigh Morrow had the game-winning sacrifice fly.
After trading big innings early, Monroe Central pulled away for a 14-8 Mid-Eastern Conference win against Cowan. Morgan Roberts hit a grand slam in the loss for Cowan.
Jay County defeated Fort Recovery 7-2. Catherine Dunn pitched seven innings for the Patriots, registering 10 strikeouts and allowing only two hits. Courtney Finnerty had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.
Jay County edged Huntington North 5-4 on Monday. Larissa Boles and Gabby Hart each had three-run homers.
The Golden Bears fell 13-2 to Shenandoah on Monday. Abigail McGrath hit a double.
Blackford’s Tori Eppard signed Monday to play at Taylor University. Eppard hit .343 with six home runs last season.
BOYS TRACK
Cowan defeated Blue River 72-51 at home. Zach Barkdull won the 3,200 for Blue River and was part of two winning relay teams. Blake Brooks won the 800, 1,600 and long jump for the Blackhawks.
Wes-Del (32) fell to Lapel (82) and Liberty Christian (42) in a tri meet. Samson Waters finished first in the long jump for the Warriors. Waters also was second in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Monroe Central won a tri-meet with 85 points, topping Union City (38) and Union (31). Josh Randell won the 110 and 300 hurdles and was on two winning relay teams for the Golden Bears (4-0). Union’s Kaulen Jenkins won the 100 and 200.
GIRLS TRACK
Wes-Del finished with 461/2 points behind Lapel (901/2) and ahead of Liberty Christian (19) in a three-way meet. Mariah Berry took home first place for the Warriors in the high jump, while Perrie Smalley was second in the 100 and 200.
Monroe Central scored 90 points to top Union City (50) and Union (9). Monroe Central’s Marissa Huddleston set a school record in 300 hurdles with a time of 48.99.
GIRLS TENNIS
Burris picked up its second win of the season, topping Frankton 4-1. Allison Dong and Kristin Waldkoetter got wins at No. 2 and 3 singles respectively.
Jay County defeated Blackford 5-0. Jessica Kerrigan led the Patriots, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Winchester topped Randolph Southern 5-0. Emily White and Miranda Winningham each went undefeated for the Golden Falcons, winning both sets 6-0.
Yorktown topped Anderson 5-0. Kate Avila led the Tigers, winning both sets 6-0.
