BASEBALL
Blackford picked up a 10-2 win against Southern Wells. Brandon Barkdull went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run, and teammate George Glawson also went 3-for-4. Daniel Strickland hit a home run and went 2-for-4.
Jay County picked up an 11-1 win against Fort Wayne Wayne. Andy Kohler hit a three-run home run and had four total RBIs, and Tanner Reynolds got the win on the mound and had a two-RBI double.
Burris pulled away to a 17-2 win against Randolph Southern. Nathan Grzesiek and Josh Monroe each had three hits and scored two runs for the Owls. Matt Armstrong had two hits and scored three runs.
Central had a three-run top of the seventh inning to break a tie in an 8-5 win against Monroe Central. Joe Gallatin, Austin Hirons, Xavier Cleaves and Joseph Scruggs each had two hits for the Bearcats. Cody Woolf, Kaiser Phillips and Logan Conklin each had two hits for the Golden Bears.
BOYS GOLF
New Castle picked up a 153-224 win against Eastern Hancock. The Trojans’ Drew Saunders shot 35 to earn medal honors, and teammate Blake Wheeler was close behind at 38.
SOFTBALL
Blackford cruised to a 17-4 win against Eastern (Greentown). Hannah Simmons went 4-for-4 for the Bruins, with three singles and a double. Darci Robertson had two doubles.
