Wapahani opened its boys basketball season Tuesday on the road with a 54-37 victory against Blackford.
Hayden Castor led the Raiders with 26 points, and former Central player Darryl McKinney added 19.
Wapahani was 10-of-13 at the free throw line.
“We’re excited about starting the season 1-0,” Raiders coach Matt Luce said. “We have some inexperienced guys that are playing varsity basketball for the first time in their careers.
“They fought through adversity and found a way to win on the road. They’re trying to get better, and we’re teaching them how to win.”

Blake Brooks led the Blackhawks offense with eight points. Clayton Kiplinger picked up five rebounds on the night.
Cowan played reasonably well on offense in the first half by scoring 26 points, but it couldn’t slow Liberty Christian’s offense.
