Thursday’s HS sports results

WRESTLING

Mount Vernon defeated Daleville 57-21 on Wednesday. Chris Kinnick, Jonathan Drown, Corbin Maddox and Connor Clark were all winners for the Broncos.

Yorktown is ranked No. 4 in the IHSWCA State Coaches Poll.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

South Adams defeated Burris 69-27. Jia Jones led the Owls with 14 points. Alyssa Peters added seven points.

Randolph Southern pulled away to a 42-22 victory against Daleville on Wednesday. Hannah McKinney led Daleville’s offense with eight points. Kristen Zimmers added five points. Jenny Shallabarger had 10 rebounds.

BOYS SWIMMING

Central pulled away to a 114.5-29.5 victory over Heritage Christian. Alec Hale won two events for the Bearcats, winning the 100 butterfly at 57.03 and the 50 freestyle at 23.22. Cullen Tyler finished first in the 100 backstroke with a 56.71 and the 200 IM with a 2:05.47. Cameron Ottinger was also a double winner, topping the 100 freestyle at 51.86 and the 200 freestyle at 1:57.81.

Delta topped Mount Vernon 112-73. Andrew Torres won the 200 IM with a 2:12.1. Torres also finished second in the 100 butterfly coming in at 57.4. Jack Hart won the 50 freestyle with a 22.9. He also finished first in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 51.1.

Jay County defeated Anderson 171-141. Sok Vormohr won both the 50 freestyle, finishing at 24.71, and the 100 butterfly with a 59.25. James Keen topped the 100 backstroke, swimming a 55.86. He also won the 200 IM with a 2:03.16.

Bellmont defeated Blackford 121-47. Zac Dudley won the 50 freestyle and Stephen McGahey won the 100 breaststroke.

New Palestine topped New Castle 122-54 on Wednesday. Robbie Lamb, Brayton Helderbrand, Cole Nicholson, Jordan Turner and Skylar Nicholson were all individual winners for New Castle.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Jay County defeated Anderson 196-111. Alexandra Bader won the 200 freestyle, finishing at 2:02.98. She also took the 100 backstroke with a 1:05.77. Sophie Bader finished first in the 100 freestyle at 55.39 and the 100 breaststroke at 1:09.55. Sydney Mathias also had two individual wins in the 200 IM, finishing at 2:36.59, and the 100 butterfly at 1:16.39.

Mount Vernon defeated Delta 113-73. Jenny Moynihan won the 200 freestyle at 2:17.9 and placed second in the 500 freestyle finishing at 6:13.9. Alexa Milholland won both the 50 freestyle at 26.70 and the 100 freestyle at 58.00.

Central defeated Heritage Christian 90-6 and Guerin Catholic 67-34. Elianor Priebe won the 200 IM at 2:42.84 and the 100 breaststroke, finishing at 1:21.49. Shelby Haggard was also a double winner, taking the 200 freestyle with a 2:12.84 and the 100 freestyle at 59.42.

Bellmont topped Blackford 126-49. Claire Seelen won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

New Palestine defeated New Castle 112-72 on Wednesday. Hannah Hawrot, Courtney Barr, Katie Larson, Regan McCarty and Taylor Kelsik were all first-place finishers for New Castle.
