GIRLS BASKETBALL
Central gave Jay County its first loss of the season, defeating the Patriots 48-40. Jayla Scaife led the Bearcats with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Hadassah Harris added six points.
Wapahani defeated Yorktown 47-40. Shae Stanley led the Raiders offense, scoring 14 points. Payten Lee added eight points. Katy Johnson led Yorktown (4-2) with 14 points and Emma McCord added 12.
Wes-Del lost 55-33 to Bluffton. Mackenzie Whitehead scored nine points for the Warriors (1-5), while Abbie Rooker added seven.
Winchester lost to South Adams 59-38. Mariah Roberts scored 20 points and Victoria Pegg added eight.
Union knocked off Cambridge City 55-44 Tuesday. Rylee Davis scored 24 points, with eight rebounds and five assists, and Faithlan Ellis chipped in 12 with 14 rebounds.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Winchester broke into the Class 2A AP state ranking by coming in at No. 9.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Central defeated New Castle 127-56. Shelby Haggard brought in two individual wins in the 200 freestyle, swimming a 2:12.42, and in the 100 freestyle, finishing at 59.12. Elianor Priebe won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:20.59.
Hannah Hawrot won the 200 IM for New Castle, finishing with a time of 2:31.19. Courtney Barr was also a top finisher for the Trojans, winning the 50 freestyle with a 27.41.
Yorktown was edged by Pendleton Heights 101-85. Lauren Elston won two events (200 free, 100 free), while Katie Keller (100 backstroke) and Morgan Hicks (100 breaststroke) each won one.
Jay County topped Oak Hill 100-86 on Tuesday.
BOYS SWIMMING
Central pulled away to a 113-67 victory over New Castle. Lukas Bradford took first place in both the 200 freestyle, with a 2:03.98, and the 100 backstroke with a 1:02.75. Alec Hale won a pair of events, finishing at 2:10.88 in the 200 IM, and 5:12.36 in the 500 freestyle. Cullen Tyler was also a double winner for the Bearcats, winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.68 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.05.
Jordan Turner won the 100 freestyle for New Castle, finishing at 56.12. Brayton Helderbrand also had an individual win in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:08.17.
With only nine competitors, Yorktown fell 103-68 to Pendleton Heights. Luke Ledbetter won the 100 breaststroke for the Tigers and was on two relay teams.
Jay County took its second loss Tuesday 117-69 to Oak Hill. James Keen picked up two individual wins and Sok Vormohradded another.
