Wes-Del exited the first quarter Friday night with a seven-point lead against Union.
Apparently it wasn’t enough.
The Warriors turned up their press after that and dominated the Rockets 85-50 to pick up the first Mid-Eastern Conference win of the young season. Wes-Del (3-1, 1-0) opened things up with a 29-9 second quarter to take its first win in the series since 2010.
“Defensively we locked in in the second quarter,” Warriors coach John McGlothin said. “Our defensive intensity picked up a lot.
“From that point on, we fed off of our defense.”
Bryce Marsh led Wes-Del with 15 points, Samson Waters added 14 and Sutter Foster had 13. A total of 10 players scored points and 13 played, which McGlothin called the sign of a good team win.
