SOFTBALL

Wapahani’s Kerri Myers signed to play softball at Purdue North Central for the 2016-17 school year on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jay County picked up a 40-35 victory over Blackford. Lauren Godfrey led the Bruins with 15 pints. Faith Morris added seven points and 11 rebounds.

Connersville defeated Central 48-37. Jayla Scaife led the Bearcats with 11 points and nine rebounds. Hadassah Harris added 10 points. Savannah Jackson had nine rebounds.

Frankton hit a buzzer-beater to pick up a 68-66 win against Class 2A No. 7 Wapahani. Kambrey Jolley and Shae Stanley each scored 19 points for the Raiders in the close defeat.

Daleville defeated Seton Catholic 51-24 on Monday. Hannah McKinney and Hanna Hochstetler led the Broncos with nine points each.

BASKETBALL

Burris basketball is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank to help try to end hunger. Anyone who brings two canned food items to the girls varsity game on Thursday or boys JV game on Friday will get $1 admittance.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Winchester was ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press Class 2A Top Ten poll.

WRESTLING

Blackford pulled away to a 60-18 victory over Madison-Grant. Storm Adney, Oliver Baronick and Austin Morman were all winners for the Bruins.

Monroe Central topped Daleville, 60-18. Jonathan Drown, Corbin Maddox, Andrew Ingenito and Connor Clark were all winners for Daleville.

Lawrence North defeated Yorktown, 36-22. Christian Hunt finished at the top for the Tigers, pinning his opponent in 3:34. Conner Narramore, Jacob Stephenson, Brad Laughlin, Cael McCormick and Hunter Hiestand were all winners for Yorktown.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Central pulled away to a 1301/2-541/2 victory against Richmond. The Bearcats’ Shelby Haggard won the 200 freestyle and 40 freestyle, and teammate Kacie Johnson won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Jay County triumphed over Delta, 197-108. Katy Smeltzer led the Patriots, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Alex Bader was also a double winner, taking the 500 freestyle and the 50 freestyle. Sophie Bader won both the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Breanna Evans won diving for Delta, with a score of 211.10. Hannah George was also a top finisher for Delta, taking second in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly.
