The Central boys basketball team is set to get reinforcements.
The Indianapolis Star reported Monday transfer big man Andre Jones is eligible to play this semester for the Bearcats according to the IHSAA. The athletic, 6-foot-4 post transferred from Indianapolis Scecina at semester.
Jones enrolled at Central last week, but his transfer paperwork was going through so he could not play over the weekend when the Bearcats went 0-2. His former school did not do anything to block the transfer.
He could provide an immediate benefit for the Bearcats, who were getting by with solid, workmanlike players at power forward. His powerful game an leaping ability immediately provide an extra dimension at that position.
Jones’ father, Anthony, coached the Southside girls team for two seasons.
