Daleville beat Wes-Del 11-1 in six innings. Brandon Vermillion led the Broncos, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Trey Bland went 2-for-3 with a home run and Nick Maloney was 2-for-4 with double to help Delta upend Cowan 6-3. With the win, the Eagles have beaten every team in Delaware County. Kasey Henderson struck out 13 in a complete game for Cowan.
Yorktown grabbed a 9-4 win over Oak Hill to improve to 20-3. Clay Dungan put up two doubles and a sacrifice fly for the Tigers.
Class 2A No. 7 Wapahani took a 7-2 loss to No. 2 Knightstown after allowing five runs in the first. Taylor Shroyer had two hits for the Raiders (15-10), including a double, and Grant Thompson added a double and an RBI.
Nathan Grzesiek scored on a wild pitch with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh to give Burris a 7-6 win over Alexandria. Grzesiek had two hits, including a home run, drove in three runs and scored three times. Matt Armstrong also homered, while Joey McMinn had two hits and earned the win in relief.
Monroe Central scored seven times in the first two innings en route to an 8-5 win over Winchester. Kaiser Phillips had two hits and an RBI, while Wyatt Snyder drove in two and tripled. The Golden Bears also earned an 11-0 victory over Winchester in the continuation of a game from the county tournament.
SOFTBALL
Class 2A No. 2 Wapahani swept an impromptu weekday doubleheader, topping Mid-Eastern Conference foe Cowan 16-0 and South Adams 10-1. On the day, Angelica McKibben had two doubles, three steals, a home run and tossed in a five-inning no-hitter for good measure. Kaija Aikman added a double and a home run, and struck out 10 against the Starfires.
Wes-Del earned a 16-1 road win against Randolph Southern. Mariah Berry was 3-for-4 for the Warriors and had six RBIs, five of which were in the third inning. Wes-Del’s Maddie Richards pitched all five innings and registered 11 strikeouts.
Yorktown defeated Madison Grant 12-2 in six innings. The Tigers’ Ashleigh Morrow was 4-for-4 with five RBIs, two doubles and a home run. Kara Tucker also contributed to the Yorktown attack, going 3-for-4.
The Blackford Bruins captured an 18-0 victory over Wabash on Tuesday, scoring 16 of those runs within the first three innings. The Bruins’ Zoie Mann hit a grand slam. On the mound, Shannon Walker did not allow any runs and struck out three batters.
Jay County edged Monroe Central 19-18 on Tuesday. Jay County’s Catherine Dunn had two hits, including a home run and the game-winning hit to score Courtney Finnerty.
Daleville fell to Northeastern 10-3 on Tuesday. Madison Savage and Kristen Zimmers led the Broncos with two hits each. Kaitlyn Ewing pitched a complete game, striking out four.
GIRLS TENNIS
Sectional host New Castle edged Knightstown 3-2 to advance to a semifinal against Tri.
Blackford’s season ended with a sweep at the hands of sectional host Marion.
