Zach Mills
After allowing three touchdowns in the first 24 minutes of the game, a powerful second half by Zach Mills and Riley Pease pushed Delta to come back and earn a 29-26 road victory over Mount Vernon.
The defense held the Marauders scoreless in the remaining 24 minutes of the game. An interception by Logan Clawson allowed the Eagles to run the clock and finalize the win.
Mills had 291 rushing yards and two touchdown runs. Pease threw eight passes for 122 yards and added two touchdown runs of his own. Mitchell Hahn was the Eagles’ leading receiver with six catches for 107 yards.
Delta (3-2) will host New Castle (1-4) next Friday.
Oak Hill 45, Blackford 8
Despite a 30-yard touchdown run by quarterback Chase Mahan to open the second half, it wasn’t enough to help the Bruins overcome the 28-point deficit Oak Hill had created in the first. Mahan’s run was the only score for the Bruins, while the Golden Eagles went on to score three more times in the fourth quarter, giving the home team the 37-point victory.
Mahan led the Bruins with 12 carries for 59 yards and threw three passes for 23 yards. Senior Brandon Barkdull added 57 rushing yards, followed by senior Colin Jones with 52.
Blackford (0-5) will travel to Frankton next Friday.
Tri Central 14, Monroe Central 0
Tri Central handed Monroe Central its first loss of the season, putting the Golden Bears at 4-1. The Trojans scored two touchdowns, one in the second quarter and one in the fourth.
Quarterback Logan Conklin was 7 of 17 for the Golden Bears, throwing for 50 yards. Jansen Blevins had six carries for 32 yards, while Tyler Writtenhouse had five carries for 19.
Monroe Central will play Wes-Del at home next Friday.
